What is Myofascial Release? PDF Print E-mail
Written by http://www.myofascialrelease.com

Myofascial Release is a very effective hands-on technique that provides sustained pressure into myofascial restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. The theory of Myofascial Release requires an understanding of the fascial system (or connective tissue). The fascia is a specialized system of the body that has an appearance similar to a spider's web or a sweater.

How Do We Work the Arms on the Mat? PDF Print E-mail

Actually, with every press of the upper body into the mat, and every lift of the torso in the air, we have the opportunity to build strength in the arms, particularly the triceps.  The conscious use of the arms is clear in the following Mat exercises.  But of course, we all know the arms are secondary elements, as the powerhouse is the real workhorse in each of these exercises.

pinching self There are at least three mat exercises that require particular use of the obliques in a Beginner mat session.  In case you don't know where they are, the obliques wrap around your waist on both sides of the body.  Functionally, they allow our torso or trunk to rotate and aesthetically, in conjuction with the entire abdominal wall, they give our body the "cinched, trim waist line."

Why Audio vs Video? PDF Print E-mail

As a consumer, I find it very hard to watch a video, DVD, or computer movie file while I am working on equipment or from the floor doing anything.  Don't you?

As a teacher, I think it is really a crazy way to workout the body.  How can you hold a challenging position while looking up at the computer or TV to see what the gorgeous instructor wants you to actually try and do?

For that reason,  the MP3 files for ThePilatesClub.Net were created, as well as my other Club.net sites, to faciliate all the workouts.

All you need to do, is listen and work your body following the instructions of the teacher featured on your selected download.

Sure, this will be a new challenge for those of us (I am one) that like/prefer visual cues.  But, if you have participated in any classical pilates session, you are probably used to "keeping your eyes on the powerhouse" and forgetting what the teacher looks like anyway!  Right?

Besides, Pilates is designed to help us deepen our mind and body connection, so it will be great to 'see' with your mind's eye as you work from the inside out!Laughing

If you want to watch a video to motivate yourself to do the work, check out the one's selected here.

The best learning comes from the Master Teachers and many of the video samples feature Bob Liekens, Peter Fiasca and Alycea Ungaro instructing and demonstrating the classical method as no other internationally acclaimed teacher(s) can.
